Hazard analysis and quality assurance in pharmaceutical and food sectors have gain importance, especially after the WHO directives. Detecting contaminating and interfering materials such as insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, dyes, mineral oil residues etc. along with changes happing due change in physical conditions such as heating, cooling etc. requires efficient process control at each step. The validation of critical operation and processes (CPP) in accordance with good manufacturing practices (GMP) puts a check on any hazards affecting quality during the production of pharmaceutical and food product. However, these aspects do not cover the safety of personnel and the surrounding environment. Hence hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) in pharmaceutical and food sectors assure the quality of the end product by ensuring the safety of the product during the operations along with the safety of the environment and person handling it.
The course provides an introduction to Hazard analysis and quality assurance in pharmaceutical and food sectors. The course describes in detail the procedures, rules and regulation to be followed for Hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP). The course enables students to develop skills to search for information regarding patents, copyright and trademarks, filing the application with the concern authorities. The project-based training is also given which is designed on the requirement of academia and industry to increase their employability.
This course is designed in accordance with the principles of HACCP to ensure the control of hazards which are necessary for food and drug production to ensure their safe usage.
